OMC, magnificent. Well worth the ride fly extended wait. Sophie with her latest mustard-inspired creation, the July bug tying it all together for us, tabitha and sir fig finally getting some sleep, wicket with a group of retired forest folk, regaling them with his bombastic stories. One question, well, two: what is Tommy doing-us that a furrow from Wickets dive ? And, is Wicket now semi retired to Quinn farms ?

Love, too, the compassionate comment from. The Man, about the elderly owl having trouble hunting.

    Just perfect, Georgia.

That beautiful panel of all the rescued wild critters makes me so happy, too. Especially because I love opossums. :)

Gotta love Baba Mouse’s gardening job. I think Bea will help her anytime. Aside from some People, isn’t just about everyone in this episode? And is that Tillie & the Golden Mouse sleeping on the rocks?

I wrote this on the site and our FB page too, but I thought I would share it here also:

On Monday, I’m going to begin daily BCN strips! Breaking Cat News every day, in a traditional Monday-Saturday small strips with a larger Sunday strip. And so, as I wrapped up the summer special I wanted to truly go all out and visit each of the characters, with the chaotic help of the July Bug.

Are you ready for daily strips? Am I? We will see! If you are hesitant about change (and who isn’t?) I gently ask that everyone take a deep breath and give me a little time to win you over to them. It may feel very different at first, but I think it is also going to be very familiar too and very fun. And EVERY DAY!! Every single day!

Will I still do bigger web strips from time to time? Very possible! In fact, when I throw in the occasional ‘Our IX Lives’ strips, most definitely. However, I’m going to try my best to pace myself with smaller daily strips. I painted today’s strip in 24 hours–and I am so proud of that, but also, oh my goodness, I’M not even sure how I managed that!

I’m really looking forward to sharing a daily dose of Breaking Cat News with you. I hope you will enjoy it too! Please give the daily strips a little time to warm up, but I promise there will be a news report right away on Monday, with live coverage of developing cat events!

So… August 1st, on the BCN site and GoComics… Daily Breaking Cat News, FINALLY!

I’ll bet Tommy, being an outdoor kitty, knows that the wooly worm/bear’s color patterns forecast the coming winter so he’s getting the scoop from the source.

Banner Elk, NC, has an annual wooly worm festival with a caterpillar race. The winner’s pattern determines the forecast.

That was great! I have a few questions, are there boy mice?Did the mouse wearing the prickles die?A had a little trouble following the plot, so I’m going to go to your site for further enlightenment. I loe your cast of characters and everything is so pretty. Those mice need mouse-men so they can have lots of pinky mouse babies!

Where I grew up in upstate New York, (very rural, lots of open spaces), we called them Wooly Bears and we used them to try to predict the harshness of the coming winters. Thanx Georgia for going daily and thank whoever was smart enough to recognize your talent and offer you this opportunity. Of course I am being selfish here as now I can get my BCN fix daily.

I am glad to see Wicket getting some decent treatment at last.

Don’t approve of even ghost cats consorting with mice.

Georgia, congratulations on daily BCN! Your artwork and your imagination in creating all these wonderful story lines will one day very soon make Breaking Cat News as well known as Garfield, I just know it!!! On a side note, I just purchased a tank top with your Pile of Cats illustration on it; I can’t wait to wear it and promote BCN!

Happy. Triumphant. Love the series of vignettes at the end… like a curtain call for the cast of a play, the coda to a wonderful film. The huge assembly of carefully crafted characters, each contributing to the overall enchantment, makes me think of Robert Altman’s directorial stylings in “Nashville.” (It had over two dozen principal characters, every one unique and unforgettable.) For a while I’ve been thinking about how great comic tales are like great movies. But when a comic is the creation of one writer/artist, that individual is the costume designer, cinematographer, set decorator, lighting technician, scripter, director, the whole creative team in one. And especially, in the creation of the facial expressions and body language, the comic creator is acting every role, male, female, animal, human, ghost, spirit, hero, villain. Academy Awards all around! What a dazzling spectacle and (simultaneously) what an intimate story. Brava! And,P.S., I’m excited about the new direction you’re taking with the strip. I’d be especially happy if this leads to BCN appearing in newspapers.

We love the idea of daily strips, with a bigger special one on Sunday. Pogo and Calvin and Hobbes were our beloved ones. BCN will join our special list of honor. Thank you, Georgia. Hannah and David

I love to view this strip on both Go Comics and the BCN home site, just to read all the different comments! PRRDH, I think hedgehogs are European in origin, but I have heard of some people keeping them as pets. Maybe when this old lady reached retirement age her people sent her to Quinn Farms. (Or, like the elderly gentleman cat in the Shelter Special, she outlived her human friend).

I’m so relieved! This did look like a wrap-up, and Steve Boreman just wrapped up Little Dog Lost, so I was a little anxious. Just a warning, Georgia: It’ll be YEARS before any of us are ready to let go. YEARS. and YEARS. and really long YEARS!!!
