Man 1: I don't know what's going on.
Man 2: Here's whats going on.
Man 1: Too much work.
Man 2: Look: It's on TV!
Man 1: TV lies!
Man 2: Here's an eye-witness. She saw it firsthand.
Man 1: I don't know what's going on.
Man 2: Me neither.
This comic reminds me to pick up an old troll encounter from a week ago:
@JRmerm if you don’t know what pwn means, someone should take away your internet access.
Let me clear up some grammar. Homeland Security and the Patriot Act happened in a brief time period, and either I’m getting old, and the years are running together, or they happened within a year of each other, calendar or 365 days. The Drug bill, as I reflect happened much later, when W didn’t want attention on the wars.
sirroMsirroM’s examples are fantastic, despite (or as evidenced by) your ad hominem.
And now for my ad hominem, and what reminded me, When you pretend that Sarah Palin and her ilk aren’t shouting about the deficit after the Republican majority used deficit spending on everything except nothing, it reminds me of an eight year old I knew as a child.
When it was his turn to bat (in baseball) nothing and no one could convince him he only got three strikes before he was out. Being nine and ten year olds around him, everyone did the cost/benefit of taking the bat from him. So we played hide and seek, and didn’t look for him. I wonder where he is…
Off topic, anyway, when you pretend at not knowing, and go off spouting master discourse like the Queen of Hearts, you might feel smart (smug and arrogant of course are the provenance of Democrats right?) you only remind me of a little brat who doesn’t want 17 strikes to be enough.
Need 17 strikes?
Weapons of Mass Destruction
Nigerian Yellowcake
Greeted as Liberators
Oil Money will pay for the war.
We’ll get Osama bin Laden.
Harriet Myers’ SCOTUS nomination
Hurricane Katrina
blah
blah
Obama bin Laden
blah
blah
blah is what you read above.
“Are we supposed to distrust black women with blond hair?”
Depends! Is she an Aborigine or is she dying her hair blonde? Cause I’ve thought of dying my hair blonde but the damage that would do to my hair is pretty substantial! Not worth the risk. :( I may get a blonde weave one day though!
Yeah that’s what I meant, it’s the bleach that scares me cause I’d need a LOT of it to get my hair to a blonde. I honestly don’t know how some of the Japanese people do it without their hair falling out, because their hair is darker than mine!
^PBS and NPR are corporate sponsored now. Every once in a while they will have a republican shill tell their audience that right wing politics is the way to go.
I totally agree. Its so frustrating to be an activist.
It’s also interesting the logical train of thought though. If ignorance is bliss that is kind of the same thinking as “the fall” in Genesis. There is a surprising lot of similarity between Christianity and secular activism. The whole “salvation” meme. I guess this book by Daniel Quinn is getting to me.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be on a mission to spread the news about social justice. The lies of our mass media system need to be debunked. Ted, you are one of the very very few making a good effort at actually doing this. And your style is considered “beyond the pale” because you do. Very brave and admirable.
But, maybe, we need to rethink the cultural roots of our evangelism a bit if we don’t want to just be martyrs. If we want to actually cause change we need to be smarter. I think humour and other subversive forms of thinking (such as those from NDNs who have had to have 500 years of survivance) are the way to actually awaken consciousness. You use a preachy tone Ted sometimes but because you use humour it is a lot more effective and subversive.

Newspapers and TV lie, but we all know that you can find the truth on the Internet.

The masses are confused? Then it must be time for a new war to “clarify” things.

Yep. Read it on the internet so it’s gotta be true.

Since they still get some funding from Congress, they have to make a token effort to show they’re “balanced.”
