When FDR was president America was still a moral nation and not being driven by forces of entitlement and entertainment. Manifest destiny, personal responsibility and self determination were still very strong. The majority of Americans weren’t looking for or interested in a nanny state. We have become the latter stages of the Roman empire where the people demanded bread and circuses from the governing echelon.
