The $19 trillion debt has been incurred by Republicans and Democrats. The main reasons on the spending side are Republican initiated unfunded wars and a world-wide network of military bases. The main reasons on the income side are Republican aversion to generating tax revenue to pay the bills (where else can the money come from), and Republican refusal to spend capital for domestic productive purposes that will benefit the economy and put people to work and generate tax revenue. Lots of blame to go around, but the Republicans particularly have much to answer for.
The modern American right doesn’t care about deficits, and never did. All that talk about debt was just an excuse for attacking Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and food stamps.
We the People of the United States…and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity*That means not turning baby citizens into debt slaves who will be forced to pay the trillions that elder citizens borrowed.*The Sodom-Gomorrah, Democrat-Republican, monopoly-abomination and their Gollum posses live like rich kings while baby citizens are pushed into worse and worse debt for generations to come. Not much of a posterity, huh?
But that figure is no where near accurate. And the bulk of the debt came from the Bush/Cheney was. The debt has actually DECREASED as percentage of GDP.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.”
“Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.”

Wonder if Lisa is going to retire on 1/17/17 when Obama is gone; Or just find a new victim to blame for everything?

If I break into your house and kill your family, is that self-defense? Fighting an enemy outside our borders, without cause, is invasion not defense.

Being objective, I don’t think that the low-debt/debt-free countries are places that most people want to emulate.

King Barry the Last has added more debt than all the previous U.S. Presidents combined. He still wants more.
