    I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed that. It’s amazing how many people watch that show and have no idea of the simple rules.

    It’s not just waiting until Alex has spoken the answer, you have to wait until a line of lights flanking the monitors (unseen by the television audience) comes on before you can ring in. The ring-in is electronically controlled, and you are locked out if you jump the buzzer before the lights come on. I was on Jeopardy! in the late 90s so I know these esoteric details.

    That’s been the rule since the syndie version of “Jeopardy!” premiered over 30 years ago. Art Fleming, the original host of the original NBC run of the show, thought it was the worst rule change in the new show; he didn’t see why a contestant who could read faster than the host should be penalized for it. I tend to agree with the late Mr. Fleming.

    K M I recall this was during the quiz show scandals. It was feared that if anyone ran a category before completion, it would be thought another scripting.

    It’s Jepordy! The contestants ask the question. He should have told God to wait until he READS the ANSWER.
