Mom: Alice: I'm just as sorry as can be that you're sick, but you can't go trick or treating tonight. Alice: DARN I'm going upstairs to sulk. Alice: I'll watch the other kids having so much fun so I can feel worse. Kids: Look! Up in that window! EEEK! Kids: THAT FACE! THAT SULKY FACE! Alice: Huh? Kids: IT'S SO HORRIBLE! AAGH! IT'S LIKE THE GHOST OF SOMEONE WHO DIED OF SULKINESS! Alice: Hee nee! MYEH! Kids: DON'T LET IT SEE YOU! STAY AWAY FROM IT! Alice: EEEEEGHA! Kids: RUN! WARN THE OTHERS! Alice: HEE HEE RARRRGH Mom: You feeling better? Have a piece of candy! We've got plenty- almost nobody came to our house tonight. Alice: What a great Halloween!

After coming home from work at 19:00, no trick-or-treater came to my apartment; the one bag of candy is all for me now.

Happened to me one Halloween, that I was sick and missed going out, but my best friend split his candy with me. Alice has her brother helping out (see yesterday’s strip) and then there’s all the leftover candy, so I guess she’s happy.

Haven’t seen any trick or treaters in my neighborhood in nearly three decades. I usually buy a couple of bags of candy “just in case” though.. buying kinds I like. :-)

I stayed home, dressed up, and gave out candy to trick or treaters. Five kids asked who I was. One asked if I was a clown. I was Snow White. I am now mourning the future of America.
