The Little Sisters of the Poor are trying to prevent their secular employees from getting birth control covered by insurance. -When they were given an option to sign a form that states this so that it can be covered by a third party, they refused to sign the exemption form because somehow just signing the form was against their religion.
@mikefive: “In neither of these opinions do I find that the intent of the Little Sisters is to try to prevent their secular employees from obtaining birth control covered by insurance.”Thanks for the analysis. Very thoughtful. But, as to your closing comment — even if this (prevention) is not by intent, will it have the effect of prevention, anyway, if their suit prevails?
@mikefive: “It seems odd to me that the Little Sisters have to go through all of this when HHS has given one major religion an exemption because they consider insurance gambling and another group exempted because “they take care of their own”.”Good point. Now, we must consider the situation of the secular fertile females. Constitutional balance is a difficult act to maintain. And a messy process. I must admit that we actually do need lawyers.
50 million, huh? So your contention is that half the women over the age of 16 in America have had an abortion?
Maybe we need to spend a little more on our schools so people will learn a little math and not be quite so gullible when the right wing lunatic fringe starts passing out the lies.

Another case of shoving one’s religion down the throat of another.
I don’t think this is what religious freedom was meant to be.
But it is alright to be prejudiced, and bigoted – I am religious….

A single-payer system would solve this problem.

You may not know, but you’re talking to a Canadian. So I know that what you’re saying isn’t true.

Another definition of insanity: Reading Payne and expecting him to even touch on reality.
