Payne is claiming that North Korea produced nucular weapons in 1994? And it’s all Obama’s fault?

The argument is particularly good if you lie about the past AND the present. Well done once more, Henry!

North Korea went nuclear during the administration of the guy who kept us safe from almost everything but 9/11, anthrax, and the effects of Katrina.

Wow, there are some libbies on here that are pretty dense and can’t seem to read between the lines. I am pretty sure that what he’s saying is that the agreement in 1994 between the US & N. Korea failed miserably because they now have the bomb, and the agreement was supposed to prevent that. One would have thought the leaders of this country (now Obama for those of you who are acting like you have no clue) would look at that and say “Hey, you know what? We are dealing with a country that is just as much a wackjob as Korea, we can’t trust them as far as we throw them, maybe it’s a stupid idea to enter into an agreement that gives them their frozen funds in exchange for them not making a bomb (that they will make anyway”. But hey, it seems like most of the public has figured this out because support for this agreement is only in the 20% range (probably all democrats). The only ones that are for the agreement are that dumba$$ in the White House and his cronies that are too scared to vote against him for fear of their political careers (even though they should care more for the people of this country and their nation). That should show you we have an incompetent boob in the WH, a bunch of incompetent boobs negotiating this agreement (kerry et al.) and that my friends is what this toon is all about.

Pretty much. Bush reneged on the light-water reactor deal and insulted the North Koreans on his cowboy tour to the DMZ, not understanding how this would affect the North Korean’s “nun-chi” or “face”. It made North Korea absolutely determined to create nuclear weapons at all costs. Just look at Iraq.

South Koreans were pissed because Bush’s speech derailed 10 years of negotiations (sunshine policy) in trying to normalize relations with the North.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the PRK, if they wanted Nuclear Weapons, they were going to get them no matter what—the same for India and Pakistan and unfortunately, the same for Iran..Much of this has to do with how the US treated these countries during the Cold War Years and when the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991-92, that pretty much hardened the stance of the “Pariah” nations like the PRK, who saw the US as an even bigger threat to their existence as the surviving Superpower at that time..Besides the PRK, India was also looking at nuclear weapons, pretty much as a deterrent against its two biggest enemies—China, which already had them, and Pakistan, which was embarking on its own nuclear weapons program..When India detonated their test weapons, they did so before the Pakistanis detonated theirs, to show that India had nuclear weapons..Hopefully these folks also learn the downside of having nuclear weapons—their expense to maintain them and keep them, which helped bankrupt the Soviet Union and made a mess of our economy, too, tying up all those resources that could have been used for other things that were better for the people..All the other countries out there see having nuclear weapons as “keys” into a private club, but the reality is that membership in this club also comes with a very high price to stay in it, and as South Africa proved when it dismantled its own Nuclear Weapons Program, it might not be worth staying in that club if the rest of the country was falling apart.

The Clinton deal allowing trade was basically working, even when they lied we knew where and when, but Bush screwed the deal, on the advice of Rumsfeld, Cheney, Perle et al, with the same brilliant strategy that got us into that two weeks we spent conquering Iraq and getting them to pay for the war.
