We had some potting sheds at school. Looking at the ground there one got the impression that the school caretaker was smoking around 500 a day.

An all-purpose Potting Shed! Now, that’s efficiency!

I’m old enough to remember when my high school had a designated smoking area outside the cafeteria. And I also remember being able to smoke in the break room at work. Oh and WITH the residents who smoked in the nursing home where I worked. Ahhh the days when you could get a carton of Doral’s for less than ten bucks!

I listen to old 40s radio shows and the cigarette propaganda was relentless. One brand promised to lift you up when you were down and calm you down when you were too anxious. I guess they don’t make “miracle drugs” like that anymore. :) Nobody EVER coughed on a radio show. I personally remember a childhood where I never had a photograph of my mother without a cigarette and I had to listen to my dad cough himself awake every morning.
