In Texas, they have stopped the “last meal” thing. It was the inmate’s last shot at the world. It was not uncommon to see one order a giant pepperoni pizza, a gallon of ice cream, a bucket of fried chicken, two six packs of beer, and on and on, then just take a taste or two of things, and push it away.
Now, their “last meal” is whatever was on the menu for the prison that night.
Those guys ruined it for all of us. Now, if I end up on death row, I will be stuck with that ordinary meal, just because somebody messed things up.
