Is it the thing from Alien? It looks like it has a hairball stuck in it’s throat. Where’s Cybil?!

Goodness! I hope it isn’t serious!

At the vet’s office, should Lio leash his leech?

I think it (I vote lamprey or hagfish) would feel better if it had that little dog as a snack.

Don’t you just hate it when your pet Lamprey develops an allergy. Maybe it is allergic to cats - so they should be off its diet.

If the “jet pack enthusiast” magazine has anything to do with this, I don’t get it….If it’s just Lio taking a “strange” pet to the vet, then I”m ok…maybe just reading too much into it

Joke 1: “Well, Lio, it looks like your worm has dogs.”

Joke 2: “Don’t worry, little wormie; someday you’ll be big and strong, and swallow the Starship Enterprise.”

    Take your pick.

Do you think you are entitled to a jet pack? How socialist of you. Don’t you know that under capitalism, you have to pull yourself up by your own jetstraps?

I don’t know what that thing is, but I bet the vet has a hard time getting it off his face. (Last vet I saw in this strip was a man, but maybe Lio’s had to change vets since that Cybil episode.)

I do like how worried Lio is about the health of his… whatever it is.

I think it’s a baby sand worm from “Dune.” I suppose without an elbow, it can’t do a “Dracula cough” like we’re supposed to do in these treacherous swine flu times….

I don’t think it’s a shai-halud or a lamprey – it seems to have two opposed jaws (lampreys’ teeth are arranged radially, and sandworms have three jaws). Maybe it’s a larval dhole…

Whatever (it looks like a section of megacolon with teeth!) it is, it must be very ill… it isn’t lunging for the chihuahua in the last frame.

    It’s coughing up a hairball.

Nothing worse will happen to it or Cybil for the rest of the day.

It seems to have a tongue also which if I remember correctly Sand worms do not have If it was a graboid it would have several tentacle tongues instead of one
