In an interview in September 2006 with then-CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, President George W. Bush said, “I’ve said to the people that we don’t torture, and we don’t.”=I don’t s’pose that qualifies as lying to the American people, huh?=Well, in any case, It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It. (Applies to both lying and torture)

What good would it do if the president ignores all the information he received and sits quietly by and allows it to happen, as was done by GWB. I’ll die believing it was a false flag operation, much like the Gulf of Tonkin incident. That one resurrected the MIC and cost the lives of more than 58,000 Americans.

The report is about things that happened a decade and more ago, and are as “secret” as the time of day, as the actions were described by released captives, among others, and distributed around the world. Just the stills of folks arriving at Guantanamo showed we weren’t following Geneva Conventions “approved” practices.

the “ticking bomb” scenario is B.S., and yes there are ways aside physical torture used that can get you what you want. (No, some are not “nice” or “friendly”, but they’re “legal”.)

Peter King, among many others keep saying the ISIL beheadings are worse, I would disagree. The people beheaded were held under duress, yes, but when “executed” they lost conciousness in under a minute or so, and felt no further pain. (blood flow to brain stopped) While those held by the CIA, and our friends, suffered extreme pain, physical and or mental, for weeks, months, and even years!! Ask John McCain to explain the difference. (He has, actually.)

“Depends on your definition of torture. No one died and we didn’t cut their heads off, which is more than they can say! Think back to what happened on 9/11 and tell me you honestly don’t think they deserved whatever we did to them! If you say “no”, I think you are a hypocrite.”

Are you saying it was NOT torture?

I have not read the report, but my understanding is that there were several deaths.

They ‘deserved it’? So it’s NOT about getting information at all, it’s about revenge.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

The essence of the rule of law is reciprocity. If you support the CIA’s actions, you must support the same actions in your enemies. Anything other is simply tribalism.

Thank you for making this point so clearly..

I know, let’s have another war and then tell our servicemen that they do not have to worry about being tortured because we are the only ones allowed to do so. The author of this comic needs to talk to Sen. McCain.

Cora; a note, they admit that at least two died in “confinement”. I’d bet from my sources (who can’t say publicly what they know and not go to prison, and the reports of many other agencies and outlets, the number was at least in the dozens, if not more, and that’s just those held in Afghanistan and Iraq, let alone Gitmo. (Where they notably covered up a number of deaths.)

Which, a classic case I was personally involved with, we lost 224 on one LZ and found 4 NVA or “Charlie” bodies. The Los Angeles times report a couple weeks later said we’d killed over 250 NVA and lost only three Americans in that “contact”. THAT is the type of accuracy the folks back home get, from the media, and Pentagon, let alone CIA, NSA, or other alphabet organizations created since 9/11 as part of “Homeland Security”.

Again, this report reports absolutely nothing new, and as a former prisoner of ours stated this morning, he doesn’t think releasing the report will lead to any additional actions, as all the information was long known, and the “bad guys” don’t need any additional stimulus, than what Bush provided a long time ago, and Cheney’s protestations (Blatant lies) should irritate, everyone, far more.
