Changes in Garfield-World come slowly. First he lost all that weight and changed his body proportions. Then there was Nermal. And most amazing of all, Jon got a girlfriend. Let’s see, at this rate there should be something new in, oh, 5-10 years.
(Don’t take that negatively. I actually admire and have defended this strip for its amazing longevity and high level of comic imagination despite its age.)
Think globally, act locally. Jon. When you think of starving people in a third world country take Liz out to dinner. If you think about all the mistreated dogs here in the states then hug Odie until he squeals. If you think of all the sweatshops children are put in to make things….put Garfield to work in the basement.
Comic strips and the corner bar should have one thing in common – “No politics. Got that?”(Usually punctuated with the slap of something solid in the bartender’s palm.)
If we forget about Pres. Obama, we will not have a pattern to follow to restore the economy after the next Republican administration devastates it again!
