The old America? Which one? The one with slavery and oppressed women? Or the one with Jim Crow Laws and bans on interracial marriage?

“Hey guys, we’re the nation of freedom and equality. Well… except for you because you don’t pass the paper bag test.”

Mr./Ms. scottfreitas, It is difficult to move into the future when you have such a distorted view of the past. Sure enough, the government does take from the population in the form of taxation, but if our government does not regulate our activities, what happens? Taxation is nothing compared to what corporations have proven to be willing to take from us. And the corporations have given us the worst medical care of any industrialized country at a much higher price. They have essentially purchased our legislative process, subverting our democracy. And they want more! You are their divisive tool.

Stop getting your news and facts from comic strips. Take them as editorial humor and enjoy.

Not EVERYTHING comes down to race/ethnicity. There is a reason Moses didn’t make it to the promised land. Freedom can not be attained with a slave mentality.

Cap and trade is a “smoke screen”, a way for the likes of Al Gore to make more money off of stupid people that think this is a good idea. The polluters don’t stop their bad behavior, they purchase credits to offset their carbon footprint. It ultimately will limit the masses to where we can live, mode of transportation, regulate heat/air conditioning, etc.

“I know some illegals who will do those jobs.”

Because if Americans did those jobs they’d charge a whole lot more for the same work, and heaven forbid those people want to get their lawns mowed for anything more than [below] minimum wage!

Building wind generators, solar panels, and “clean” cars provides real, “green” jobs.

“8”–I’m also more concerned by folks NOT upset by the fact that Ollie North confessed to treason and other crimes before the Senate, then upon court conviction, was released by a Reagan appointed judge, and “the party” wanted to run him for the Senate. Now he’s one of their mouthpieces- sorry, it disgusts me.

@Michael Rupp - A few people here are under the impression that the vast majority of Left/Liberal/Democratic voters do not work and wouldn’t work if they had the opportunity. Typically when they refer to the right, they say “taxpayers,” as if every taxpayer votes R.

I think we can all agree that building nuclear power plants is one green job that benefits everyone and is a “real” job. I have no idea why we don’t hear more and more about nuclear power.

Three Mile Island, Chernobyl? Price you pay for living in reality…accidents happen.

Radish: Change for the sake of change isn’t always a good thing. I miss the original fragrance of Tide and Dial soap…I don’t buy either anymore. They “stink!”

Change that creates a BENEFIT to the most, though, is what we need. A smell is a smell is a smell but everyone should have jobs and healthcare.

P.S. I once raked my yard and bagged the leaves faster than a young guy blowing leaves all over a neighbor’s yard then vacuuming them up onto a truck. All the while he was polluting the neighborhood with the noise and truck’s engine running…Dufus.
