pbarnrob: It was Hannibal, not Alexander. (Okay, so I’m a pedantic nit-picker.) And the Bible was being thumped centuries before either one of them was born..kittenpah: Not to pick on you or the Old Testament law, but it pulled no punches. Even having the right kind of, um, intimate relations required ritual cleansing; having the wrong kind was a capital crime, punishable by stoning (or in extreme cases, burning). That included not only homosexuality and incest, but simple adultery, which nowadays people merely wink, nudge, and snicker about. This may all seem a bit harsh…but they had good and clear reasons, and we live in a very different time and place.
