Sometimes I’m suddenly made aware of what a brilliant and original premise this strip is based on: a cat TV news show! A deep sincere bow to cartoonist Georgia Dunn!

This time of the year in the northern hemisphere, the Moon is directly overhead. On our rare clear nights I enjoy seeing it beaming down through my one little skylight.

Let’s face it, the newspaper comics are as dead as the newspapers themselves. I speak as a (male) former professional illustrator and cartoonist. It is nearly impossible, in this age of unlimited free entertainment online, to make any money as a cartoonist. Cartoonists have never earned more than starvation wages in my lifetime. It’s been a century since the golden age of cartooning, when giant newspapers competed for the best artists, and paid them big money. This work will soon be done entirely by AI computer programs anyway. Our culture is on its way back to ancient times, when creative people did their work as a hobby or for fun. They were motivated by fame only.
