I’m an American citizen who DOESN’T hate America. The status is what entitles me to a nation that at least ASPIRES to the qualities listed on the tin (if you’ll forgive the metaphor).
And yes, that IS interchangeable with “a United States of America that doesn’t have Republicans in charge.”
The simple fact is that the country is ENTITLED to have a non-Republican — let me rephrase: I am entitled to live in a United States of America that doesn’t have Republicans in charge.
And so are you. But we won’t get that unless enough of us choose it.
Can’t be done without a Constitutional amendment (for the presidency). Unfortunately Maurice Duverger wasn’t around when the Constitution was being written, so we’re stuck with “first past the post” for that office.
