Agree – I taught electronics in the Navy and tested aircrew for flight and system knowledge – we wrote the tests to see if they understood what they were supposed to do. Multiple choice options that would gauge their knowledge. We had a course in test writing to accomplish this type of testing and I would love to see them use it in schools today. A lot of work for the instructor, but the results are worth it.
I remember “Teach the Test” concept so the students would get good grades and everyone was happy. In theory it works – in real life, not so much as the students know the test but do not understand the subject matter so in the work place, they had a difficult time.
A guy at an auction bought a locked, old ornate, small chest for $100.00. The auction company didn’t want to break it open which would destroy it. So to check for valuables, they had it x-rayed and all they saw were some papers and what looked like paperback books – what he found when he had the lock removed without damaging the chest, was original issue stocks and titles and two 1st edition books – total value of content was in the $$$Millions.
A neighbor with 6 children (17, 16, 5, 4, 3, 1) told us she got lonely when the oldest 2 were involved in school stuff and gone a lot. The little ones would help dad do yard work in the summer and fall – it was fun to watch them rake big piles of leaves and then run and jump in them.
Yeah – I’ve got the Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) – didn’t think I needed one but it has turned out to be a life saver – literally – thankful I have it.
LOL – great :o) When I mention webs in the house, she tells me they are there to catch the mosquitos that bite me so I let them be.
