   The IRS came to the L.A.Times to interview Paul and he called them Nixon’s lap dogs and told them to give it all you got boys. I have Times Mirror attorneys waiting for you. Not much happened after that. I would stop by his office now and again and he would always answer the phone. Why, I asked? If I write draw this “stuff” it’s only fair to hear what readers think. Most had screaming fits and 4 letter words. He simply laughed. Kept a small TV on all day and smoked his pipe. The Times had a no smoking ban which no one enforced. Paul scared a lot of his coworkers. We were friends and had lunch from time to time in the Picasso Room. All gone.

   Boy oh boy, does the truth hurt. Your cartoons go straight home to the hypocrisy of the GOP. They give you an endless library of material. I worked with Paul Conrad (LATimes Cartoonist) years ago and he said that Nixon gave him most of his material. Nixon hated Conrad and siced the IRS onto him. The IRS caught hell fire from Paul when they showed up in person. It did not turn out well for the IRS.

   California utilities have taken a big step to crush solar power. Think PG&E, SCE and SDG&E. CPUC now all in utilities’s pocket. AB 205 has been a great Christmas gift to the utilities that just keeps on giving. Check it out. We have the best legislators that money can buy.

   Santos is a prime example of the Republican party and certainly has the same character and integrity of 45, their lord and savior. The Republican Party has lost its soul and will wander in the wilderness for several election seasons.

   Well, he was pretty much successful. Democracy is in big trouble. Trump awaits the White House or the Big House. Thanks, Rupe, between you and a handful of mental cases at Fox News you have destroyed a lot of peace and goodwill among political parties.
