Greg Evans has retired and written out a number of supporting characters over the years for basically two reasons: either they no longer served a purpose in the strip or he just didn’t know what to do with them.
With her old friends even worse now than they were in high school, why would she want to? The last time she spoke to Luann, Luann showed her how unengaged she was in politics—as well as in the rest of her life. Would you want to hang with people like that?
Luann has always been selfish, so what else is new?
