I download black and white digital files from AMU via FTP. They are colored in Photoshop and then uploaded to a special folder. The syndicate folks do all the prep work to get cartoons ready for coloring.
For Luann I get 6 strip installments (Mon-Sat) from AMU (Andrews McMeel Universal) a few weeks ahead of publication date. Timeline varies. Of course I have to sit on what I know is coming. Years ago when I started coloring dailies Luann was with United Media. I sometimes dropped hints as Karnac or something similar, but I didn’t do it for long. Just made for trouble. UM was overrun with trolls, too. A few folks here -present or lurking- remember those days.
Sometimes I take mini breaks from coloring, especially on Tuesday morning when AMU deadlines are upon me. Plus I was in the middle of coloring the next batch of Luann strips and I was in a Luannaticky mood.
right up there with the Bird Dance.
