It was similar for me. Both my parents grew up during the Great Depression. Dad went to serve in the Canadian Army during World War 2. Mom remembered rationing during World War 2. As a result of growing up with those reminders on the family farm, we learned how to make things last and reuse items long before Recycling was a term everyone is now familiar with.
OT: It is so nice to see the kitties both past and present along with the local wildlife enjoying that beautiful tree and I agree with them 100% with the hope that other dear sweet kitties and local wildlife will continue to enjoy that tree.
Same here! I was 11 years old when we got indoor plumbing on the family farm. Mom had to have hernia surgery and she did not want me to haul even half full buckets of water up the basement stairs. Dad was able to get a loan from the Manitoba Government that helped people get indoor plumbing.
On a side note, it looks like dear sweet Ora Zella will continue to fight her shadow for as long as she can.
