Maybe Seagull is doubtful because he has seen today’s “Perry Bible Fellowship’ and knows a bit more than Wallace about the King of the Sea.

True story from a major UK insurance company where I once worked…one of my co-workers came in early (like me) and sat at our department head’s desk (open plan office, the desk was behind mine). She, pale and obviously exhausted, explains to the boss that her partner (who also works in the same department) had a climbing accident over the weekend. He has broken both legs, an arm, some ribs, and his back in three places. I gasp in shock; the boss’ sole and immediate response is, ‘so when will he be back to work?’

It’s ok to like multiple genres of music! My home made CD collections have Elgar next to Jim Croce then Black Sabbath, Abba, the Zombies, Queen, Chris de Burgh, Marillion, a bit of thrash metal, some country, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and so on.

Not better as such, but it shook up the industry and brought in a lot of new musicians – it was such a powerful movement that a lot of good musicians were able to come to the fore and get noticed. Bands often took elements of punk and re-worked it, or used the vibe.

Urgh, I loathed punk! However it did shake up the music industry no end, which was a good thing.
