NRHAWK – I must have hit a nerve, huh? You don’t think you’re better than the people who voted for Trump, do you?

What fun! Hillary’s just impossible to ignore. She constantly embarrasses the Left™ by exposing them for the smug elitists they are. People who disagree with her don’t just have contrary opinions worth debating, they are backward and deplorable. What a great way to win friends and influence people!

LONECAT – I give you your point, to a degree. However, today’s moral judgements of yesterday’s actions is poor scholarship and hugely egotisitcal. Current moral judgements are always changing but the historical record won’t (without rigorous research). Students need to understand how yesterday’s decisions were made and that’s nearly impossible if the teacher hands them the answer. If you can’t make an informed argument in favor of slavery, you aren’t educated since most of human history includes the institution.

What a monstrous generalization and a poor judgement of your parents. Do you stipulate that government should inform one’s prejudices rather than parents?

Howard Zinn!!!!!!!!!!! You are truly brainwashed. You should be with the children. They are your peers.

The mission of public schools should be to deliver a basic academic curriculum. Political opinion, like religion, should be left to parents to provide. This used to be, and still is in many school districts, a standard operating principle.

There is never an easy way to fire someone. But, the best way is to do it is in person while looking him/her in the eyes. Sometimes that just doesn’t work out when word gets out before the personal niceties can be delivered.

It does seem counterintuitive to condemn guns but fantasize about them. Shouldn’t you attempt to put your thoughts where your heart is? Isn’t it almost hypocrisy if you don’t?

So, are you just as emotional about highway deaths and swimming pool drownings? Gun deaths are sad. So are all the teen deaths in drunken car crashes and infants drowning in pools. Guns are regulated as much the Constitution and state laws allow, just as are highways and pools. A country of over 320 million people living in thousands of governmental subdivisions cannot be governed by outliers and exceptions. Problems can rarely be extinguished – only managed and hopefully reduced. Try to keep perspective.

Wrong. The Constitution is amended. The Constitution is changed by the Amendments. The Amendments aren’t their own document. This is basic stuff.
