We've had the biggest mass shooting in U.S. history. It's time to get SERIOUS about gun control. Sunday Takes Man: Terrorists who can't fly shouldn't be able to buy guns! That seems like a very sensible and obvious place to start, yes! I'm in favor! Baby: Hello. I am a baby who is on the list and had my diaper searched by our government. Okay, honest mixup with a real terrorist. The list is mostly good, obviously. Woman: Uhhhh, there are thousands of names on this secret list - many for, like, sounding Muslim. So...looks like we're being racist and expanding the surveillance state again? Man: You give me ONE time that's ever backfired.
How about simply requiring every sale has to have a background check of the buyer. That would be sensible and fair. Right now about forty percent of the sales are done with no check at all. Having a law that is only half enforced is kind of stupid, you pay for it but don’t really get the benefit. But I guess expecting Congress to do anything is a pipe dream.
