The start 2 the meaning of my life

This is the “Peanuts” strip that started a nearly 50 year legacy. This also marks the first appearance of Charlie Brown, Shermy, and Patty (who is not to be confused with Peppermint Patty). I find it despairing that the introduction of “Peanuts” is hatred towards poor ol’ “Chuck”. This strip was animated in the recent television special “Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown”.

And thus begins the Golden Age of comics…

And now, my journey of reading “Peanuts” begins!

And here comes Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. Today at February 29th, 2016, I have started to read all Peanuts comic strips.

Amazing that this came 65 years ago!

This strip is THE first of many things: it’s the first Peanuts comic strip, the first appearance of Charlie Brown, as well as minor characters Shermy and Patty, the first time someone insulted Charlie Brown, the first time someone used the punchline "Good ol’ [wishy-washy] Charlie Brown, and the first time a character talks behind another characters’ back.

This is CRAZY. I didn’t think the peanuts was THIS OLD?!?!

Lincoln Peirce, the creator of Big Nate was inspired by Peanuts and eventually gave his main character, Nate Wright the saying, “Oh how I hate her” which he uses when he is tired of Mrs. Godfrey’s rules. I feel like it references this comic strip!

Yup, this SURE IS the VERY FIRST Peanuts strip Charles Monroe Schulz had written and published. Of course, this was LONG before I was born, but both of my parents had just started first grade. (Yes, they were the same age; my mom is deceased, but my dad is still living and has remarried, in fact.)

And thus began half a century of misery for Good Ol’ Chuck.

I forgot how much Charlie Brown looked like a Lemonhead

We actually read no more of Shermy’s hatred of Charlie Brown. When we next see them together, they are friends, as they remained for as long as Shermy appeared in the strip.

Does anyone here listen to unpacking peanuts?

I clicked on comments to see what everyone had to say about this being the first Charlie Brown cartoon, and instead it was just a bunch of stupidity. Sad.
