    For conservatives ‘pro life’ applies only to fetal cells. Once you are born, and are of school going age your life isn’t worth all that much.

    We already regulate guns. Everyone but the NRA & a few trolls agrees that we need to make some changes. If you think the 2A means there shouldn’t be any regulations, you’re paving the way for repealing it.

    Amendment I

    One would hope that neither amendment, nor any of the other first 8 would be elevated above the others.

    You do understand, I hope, that the founder’s intent is that changes to the BoR are handled through new Amendment, not violation.

    I’m sure we would all be fascinated to learn how exactly you came to this “understanding” of the Founders’ intent, as well as what American in their right mind would even contemplate legally(?) violating the Bill of Rights.

    The Supreme court may legally interpret the Constitution according to the necessities of a constantly evolving society. IMO Repealing any of the original 10 ain’t ever happening without cataclysmic consequences.

    Breen forgot the biggest gun. Monetary support from the NRA and the weapons industry. Politics is just another business, and this is only a little wobble in their profit margin chart, same as the one after Columbine, Sandy Hill, Vegas, and all the others (and usually gun sales INCREASE after these events). The protests will eventually peter out, people will go on about their daily lives, and any legislation that is actually passed will be be overturned or allowed to sunset by the next administration. There, no idealism – accept your dystopia.

    Or we could get together and do something about it.

    If some people spent half of the time registering new voters or organizing and motivating and discovering people’s ideas that they do complaining and blaming, maybe we could effect some lasting progress.

    We once had divine royalty lording over us

    Slavery

    No votes for women

    Young children at hard labor

    Debtors prison

    Segregation

    Etc., etc

    Progress comes on a slow train, but it’s a worthwhile ride. Come on along!

    Progress is easily reversed. There are always forces trying to undermine progress – made with great effort and sacrifice – for short term gains benefiting a selfish few. Constant vigilance is the only effective defense. People unfortunately tend to become complacent over time and lose sight of their priorities.

    Except the second amendment is making the rounds in the media over the first. If there had been another mass shooting you better believe that the children’s protest would have been ignored over the carnage some nutcase with a gun committed.

    There should be a “loudest” which would be the “sound” of a vote being tabulated – but I have no idea how Mr. Breen would ‘illustrate’ that – but then I’m not overly creative and have little imagination.

    Gun enthusiasts (and that includes me) take note; The people are speaking and when the next mass shooting of children occurs (and we know it will) that voice will become deafening.

    Get rid of AR15s and other high capacity rapid fire weapons NOW! Melt them all down NOW! They belong in the hands of military personnel and no one else! My God what is wrong with people who claim some God given right to own weapons meant only for killing a bunch of human beings in a short time???
