Corky’s wife Hope co-founded the diner. Why doesn’t she also have an ownership interest?

But was that deed ever recorded?

If the property has been taken over through Eminent Domain, then it doesn’t matter who owns it. Corky won’t get the diner back, but at least he would get paid for it.

And why was this stuck on the floor under the counter instead of being on file in the County Clerk’s office? And how could Corky not know he owned it – doesn’t the Grantee have to sign a deed? And you don’t think piece of paper you pulled from under a lunch counter is going to be contested by Wilmer, who is, after all, a Senator, and therefore has connections and pull?

    I know, I know, it’s just a comic strip.

Which is more true: 1) Mr Pert liked Corky and the diner, or 2) Mr Pert, along with everybody else, hated Wilmer.

Although, on Jan. 25, Wilmer claimed he inherited the property from Pert, on Jan 26, he produced a document that the property would be taken because of “eminent domain.” If the eminent domain claim is legit, it shouldn’t matter who owns the land — it will be taken for some project in the public interest. It does matter with regard to who receives compensation.
