That KJ version of the Bible uses the antiquated definition for suffer which is “allow the children to come unto me.” Granted it can well be said that is the motto of the GOP but it doesn’t get creedence from the greatest influence on Western Civ, the KJ Bible. The current Bibles have been dumbed down so much that no wonder many so-called adherents aren’t familiar with its tenets.
One does not need to be a Bible scholar to know how to treat people with compassion. To deport people who have lived here all their lives and are by every measure Americans is just plain evil.
Dumb Donnie Dumpsterfire has discovered that bullying and bluster doesn’t work as well in politics as it did in all of his shady, underhanded real estate deals and other business failures. Blackmail and extortion don’t work, either.
So sad. Clinton, Bush and Obama kicked the can down the road. They refused to enforce existing immigration law. Obama went so far as to illegally prevent such enforcement.
Along comes Trump who revokes the illegal delays in deportations, but gives Congress 6 months to do their job. Trump agrees to give amnesty to the Dreamers and their parents in return for common sense modifications to visa law and a moderate start on the wall.
Instead of embracing the deal, Dems and a few RINOs try to pull a fast one. Trump rejects the dilution of the position he staked out, the position Congressional leaders had agreed to just days earlier.
Wow…….“demon rat liberals”, is it? Let me clue you in: EVERY intelligent conservative (not to mention intelligent moderates, such as myself) would find you to be, not a conservative, but a reactionary. And by no means an intelligent reactionary, assuming such a thing could exist. Intelligent conservatives would find you to be, plainly and simply, an embarrassment. (Ask George Will or somebody!)

This is what Trump really does for exercise. And it is why they’ve got that white van blocking the press pool’s view of our president at leisure. Sickened as we would be, …perhaps we are lucky. Some say he hunts using Stephen Miller. If a dreamer survives fang or claw or venom, a green card. If not, Eric gets to take another picture. America: The New Heart of Darkness.
Democratic Rep. John Lewis, a leader in the civil rights movement who marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said he thinks the president “is a racist.”
@dagnabit…really? Love thy neighbor? Take care of the poor? Take care of the sick? Take care of children? Turn the other cheek? Really? Those are all aspirational ideals to progressives.
Regressives such as yourself prefer to hate our neighbors, the Mexicans. You want to cut down on food stamps for the poor. You want to take away healthcare from children. And you vow vengeance on your enemies.
@geezer…children, the poor, the sick, and the dispossessed need more from all of us than prayer, which is nothing more than palliative wishful thinking. If you think otherwise, you missed the point of Christian teaching on the subject. Taxes that go to help the sick, the children, the poor, and improve the welfare of our citizens are our moral obligation. And I’m not a Christian. I’m just in favor of a civilized society.
You think taxes are theft. I think they are the price we pay for a civilized society. I’m pretty sure I know what side Jesus would be on in that debate. Feel free to argue for a selfish, fearful, pinched view. I’d love to see your rationalizations for letting the poor go hungry and cold, for not treating children when they are sick. Few of those regressives who post here are able to offer an ethical and moral argument consistent with Christian values. That’s why they point at others and demonize them.
There are no Christian ideals in poor pathetic trump’s “consciousness” either. He’s just mentally ill, so there’s really no “there” there. Vapid displays of constantly shifting opinions are all the poor sick man has.
There are no Christian aspirational values in Paul Ryan’s fevered vision cooked up from half-baked objectivism, leavened with racism, xenophobia, and cockamamie ideas like the Laffer Curve proven to fail time and time again.

I sure “Christians” will come up with dozens of Bible verses saying the Trump is doing God’s work and Jesus is just a socialist!

In the conservative Bible, Jesus had nothing good to say about the Good Samaritan. He praised those who left the victim by the road…
And of course he never, ever told people to give away their property and follow him…
And he would have totally disapproved of the communal living of his early Christian followers.
And that stuff of forgiving others if they have offended you?
