In all fairness, if you can actually distill the entire tax plan down to a single page… I’m kind of impressed, really.

And now that the “conservatives” have blown an even bigger hole in the budget in order to gift themselves, they will come after every other program to pay for it. No money for anything………except maybe 18 billion for the worlds biggest handball court. That, they can somehow afford.

If the tax plan were on one page, more people would actually read it, instead of basing their opinions on other’s opinions.

So far, my favorite part of Fire and Fury is how Ivanka ridicules her father for having a “scalp reduction” to try to lessen the bald spot (spot!) that covers the entire top of his head. If you cut off the comb-over, it must look like a zipper on top of his fat head.

One page tax plan: #1. How much did you make last year?

#2. If less then $500,000, send it ALL in. If over $500,000, keep it.

One flaw in this is that it shows him reading that one page. He doesn’t read at all. People tell him what it says.

Donald John Liar was going to simplify the code and give tax cuts to everyone. Adding more than a thousand pages to the tax code. Adding 1.5 trillion dollars to to the deficit. Making permanent corporate tax cuts, but taking away the minimal cuts for the middle class in a few years. The Reagan and Bush tax cuts are still in place, yet only the few at the top have benefited. Remember how President Obama wanted to let them expire in 2010, but compromised by letting them continue for the greater good?

I’m so proud that the tax on my Social Security benefits are going to support the one per cent. Who needs education, health care or infrastructure when you have the richest people sucking up all the tax dollars. America, what a country!

Many refer to this era as one dominated by the oligarchs, a word I prefer not to use. It sounds a little too benign since so many are unaware of the meaning. What is wrong with just calling them rich evil bastards?

    @jerrygfg

You mean how the Republicans borrow(1,500,000,000,000 dollars) and spend, and then pay interest for decades to give tax cuts to the corporations and stock holders who need it the least? How the accountants and lawyers are finding enormous loopholes avoid payments already? How come mega banks have been paying zero income tax in recent years? Where are the deficit scolds who screamed from 2009 to 2016?

Debt Crises! Hyperinflation! Skyrocketing Interest Rates! Squirrel!

Simple fact about the tax codes: roughly 90% of all those pages are EXEMPTIONS! This one is only slightly different, 99% is exemptions benefitting the top 1%, and the other 1% is a smoke-screen to keep the middle class from seeing how badly they’re being screwed.

Actually the tax plan can be distilled down to a single sentence: “Screw the poor and the middle class and give it to the rich.” You know, the standard republican’t platform…

Where are all the Trump Disciples claiming that this is a real improvement in the tax code and now they will be able to file their tax returns on a post card?

    .

You know, it’s really, really simplified now.

Love the “Time” cover in the last panel. He must have brought it up from Mar-A-Lago. No, he doubtless has a fake “Time” cover for each of his residences.

Most of the new 1000 page tax bill are amendments to twist existing law into bigger deductions for the top 1%, for example they quadrupled the deduction on luxury vehicles…..

“150SEC. 13202. MODIFICATIONS TO DEPRECIATION LIMITATIONS ON LUXURY AUTOMOBILES AND PERSONAL USE PROPERTY LUXURY AUTOMOBILES.— IN GENERAL.—280F(a)(1)(A) is amended— in clause (i), by striking ‘‘$2,560’’ and inserting ‘‘$10,000’’, in clause (ii), by striking ‘‘$4,100’’8and inserting ‘‘$16,000’’, in clause (iii), by striking ‘‘$2,450’’ and inserting ‘‘$9,600’’, and in clause (iv), by striking ‘‘$1,475’’ and inserting ‘‘$5,760”

So the new tax bill contains the old tax bill with amendments…. so it’s just as confusing and long as before and favors those who donated to (i.e. bribed) those that wrote it.

It is really sad that the dialogue in this strip isn’t really satirical; it could easily have been taken word-for-word from an actual Oval Office conversation.

I just noticed – is Trump the first president that Trudeau has actually depicted as himself, rather than through an icon or simply a word balloon from the White House? (The Max Headroom parody doesn’t count as depicting Reagan.)
