Maybe I’m over-thinking this, but there is a saying, attributed to Mr. David Letterman, that says “There is no off position on the genius switch”. Now if that were true, the switch would not be a switch, as a switch by it’s very nature would need at least two positions. I would prefer to think that the off position is there, someone just taped over the switch while in the “on” position.
