Seems that the standard is.. if the voters knew before they voted.. no problem. If, subsequent to getting elected something dredged up from the past is discovered.. you must go. Remains to be seen if the standard is applied to both parties though.

Perhaps some one in this forum can explain something to me. Over 50 years ago I met my first rabid Republican in Fla. He hated FDR for everything from Social Security to “starting WWII”. So, why is it that Repub’s hate Social Security and universal health so much?

    Lisa:

If you are calling for the ouster of players on the other team for doing what players your team are doing, you got it backwards. First clean your own filthy house before complaining about some dust in the neighbor’s house. Get a resignation from Donald Trump. Then have Roy Moore take his lust back to kindergarten. You never wanted whoremonger David Vitter to go so nobody should listen to your rants.

As Al noted in his resignation address, it is past time for Trump, due to his own admissions of abuse, to resign and leave the Oval Office.

    jlocke:

“How did the Democrat Party become so repugnant to the people of Alabama that Moore even has a chance?”

    ===

Interesting question. I’d be interested in your answer.

My answer is that it’s complex, but at its heart, it’s racism. Confederate states have always been deeply afraid that blacks would some day take over. That fear was realized when a black man was elected president.

Roy Moore is a segregationist, as is Trump. Fox “news” et al, is in the business of playing on those fears and stoking them. Alabama voters forgive, i.e. do not believe ANY Moore/Trump molestations in order to prevent an Obama from ever happening again.

    .

Meanwhile, Republican corporate elite takes full advantage of the racist fears — not limited to Alabama, BTW and not limited to confederate states — to exacerbate wealth inequality and class warfare.

    .

And I don’t buy your ‘open scorn’ reasoning in the slightest. Hillbilly/yokel jokes have been around since forever. The open scorn part is the mental gymnastics Republicans go through to rationalize their lies. You can certainly see it on these boards.

    .

Bill’s perjury was worse than the lies about Saddam’s WMDs.

George Soros contributes more money than the Kochs and all the Republican billionaires.

We don’t hate Obama, just his policies.

The head of the Communist KGB is not a bad guy and would not interfere in our elections.

    .

You can supply your own. There’s plenty to choose from.

JLOCKE, the proper term is Democratic party because the word preceding party is an adjective. Republican can be used as a noun or adjective.

.Republicans use fear-mongering which is very useful for voters that don’t pay much attention to the details, most because they are too busy trying to make a living. Notice that the color scale Bush 43 used disappeared not long after he won re-election. He used a four year old terrorism “alert” to squash Kerry’s convention bump. Calling it a “war on terrorism” allows a never-ending fear-mongering campaign. Threatening other countries instead of using diplomacy causes more tensions when those countries react to threats from the US.

.Then there are the fake “wars” on Christmas and Christianity. Saying Happy Holidays is inclusive but Christian zealots take it as an insult. Not allowing Christians to discriminate against others is not discrimination against Christians.

.“They’re coming to take our guns”, “Obama won’t allow the next election for president”, and ginning up fear against those that are “different” are all tactics of the Repubs. Illegal immigrants commit FEWER crimes because they are afraid of deportation. There are far more peaceful Muslims than those who commit terrorism and there is far more terrorism in the US committed by white, right-wing groups than Muslims.

Lisa, four of the eight accusers are anonymous so Franken can’t refute them. Tweeden was pretty grabby herself during the USO shows, so I suspect she is now exaggerating to help her buddies at Fox, especially since Franken is NOT touching her in the picture. The woman who alleges he touched her butt while her husband (who didn’t see anything) took the picture proudly displayed it on Facebook. The one who says he touched her boob said she thought it might be an accident. The latest one said he grabbed her waist and squeezed twice. Franken has denied the accusations, at first politely by saying he didn’t remember them the same way and later by saying they are flat out not true.

.This is strictly to get rid of Franken because he has been so tough on Repubs and to distract from those who violate CHILDREN / TEENS like Moore and Trump.

JLOCKE, this link helps to explain irrational hatred of Democrats in Alabama. The warped curriculum taught in fundamentalist schools promotes racism, say women should be in “their place” and say Satan created psychology.

Roy Moore is the hood ornament of the GOP. The predator driving the car thanks you for endorsing the ongoing GOP plan to restore women to their “traditional” place as objects created to serve the needs & desires of men.
