Trump’s dream of supporting a “status quo that never was” seems to be what is keeping his supporters happy with the big plus of making his non-supporters very unhappy.

    DEAL MAKER-nay-BREAKER – {rhyme}

    Trump’s not so hot at deal-MAKING; -

    - he’s a master instead of deal-BREAKING

    in ways so erratic

    and undiplomatic

that the world to oblivion he’s taking. …

… And he makes so much static

    with noise autocratic

that his fans don’t realize he’s raking

them TOO to the hot-burning coals

in his bonfire on the world’s rocky shoals.

Yes, when the U.S. allowed Trump’s grandfather, the owner of a “restaurant” in Seattle BACK into the U.S. after being kicked out of Germany for being A DRAFT DODGER!

In 1891, Trump moved to Seattle, in the newly admitted U.S. state of Washington. With his life savings of several hundred dollars, he bought the Poodle Dog, which he renamed the Dairy Restaurant, and supplied it with new tables, chairs, and a range. Located at 208 Washington Street, the Dairy Restaurant was in the middle of Seattle’s Red Light District; Washington Street was nicknamed “the Line” and included an assortment of saloons, casinos, and brothels. Blair, the biographer, called it “a hotbed of sex, booze, and money, it was the indisputable center of the action in Seattle”. The restaurant served food and liquor and was advertised to include “Rooms for Ladies”, a common euphemism for prostitution.

Soon after the family arrived back in Germany, Bavarian authorities determined that Trump had emigrated from Germany to avoid his military-service obligations, and he was classified as a draft dodger. On December 24, 1904 the Department of Interior announced an investigation to expel Trump from Germany. Officially, they found that he had violated the Resolution of the Royal Ministry of the Interior number 9916, an 1886 law that punished emigration to North America to avoid military service with the loss of German citizenship. For several months, Trump petitioned the government to allow him to stay but he was unsuccessful.

Well, NOW we know why Donnie Dumpsterfire is such a sleaze…it runs in his family!

masterkrain…the sons of the fathers are not usually on the sons’ heads unless the son contributes to (or even enlarges) those sins. In this case, the apples never seem to have fallen far from the trees. Thanks for the history. Very interesting and potentially an interesting tidbit giving us an ancestral view into the amoral universe the trump family has inhabited. From grandfather the pimp, to father the blatant racist, to the insanity of the present miscreant. It’s quite a sordid tale, isn’t it?

There’s no subtlety in our disdain at this point; there can’t be. When the President of the United States says a senator begged him for reelection support and that senator’s staffer says it never happened, there’s no doubt about who’s telling the truth – we don’t even pause to consider there are “both sides” to the question because there aren’t. What a sad state of affairs for this country.

The art of the deal: Bluff and bluster until you get your way, and if you don’t, cheat on any agreements you entered into and stiff the little guys on the theory that they can’t afford to sue you or you’ll destroy them.

Krugman’s top ten Republican lies about taxes.

Lie #1: America is the most highly-taxed country in the world

Lie #2: The estate tax is destroying farmers and truckers

Lie #3: Taxation of pass-through entities is a burden on small business

Lie #4: Cutting profits taxes really benefits workers

Lie #5: Repatriating overseas profits will create jobs

Lie #6: This is not a tax cut for the rich

Lie #7: It’s a big tax cut for the middle class

Lie #8: It won’t increase the deficit

Lie #9: Cutting taxes will jump-start rapid growth

Lie #10: Tax cuts will pay for themselves

From conservative (note well!) pundit Michael Gerson: But the real problem has always been Trump’s fundamental unfitness for high office. It is not Trump’s indiscipline and lack of leadership, which make carrying a legislative agenda forward nearly impossible. It is not his vulgarity and smallness, which have been the equivalent of spray-painting graffiti on the Washington Monument. It is not his nearly complete ignorance of policy and history, which condemns him to live in the eternal present of his own immediate desires.

And just a little bit more, I promise: No, Corker has given public permission to raise the most serious questions: Is Trump psychologically and morally equipped to be president? And could his unfitness cause permanent damage to the country?

It is no longer possible to safely ignore the leaked cries for help coming from within the administration. They reveal a president raging against enemies, obsessed by slights, deeply uninformed and incurious, unable to focus, and subject to destructive whims. [Godfreydaniel here: Not only all THAT, but Trump’s senility is catching up to his insanity!]

During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence’s determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. “You see?” Trump asked Pence. “You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway.” When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”

At this point since Trump remains ineffectual why not just leave him in office? He can’t fulfill any of his agenda. He can’t fulfill any of his campaign promises. He keeps making enemies of his own party. If we leave him there, we are safe from The Fanatic Pence Christian Taliban. If we leave Trump in office he will keep writing executive orders which are the easiest to erase by the incoming new president. If Trump stays in office and continues to be so ineffectual, he will not get reelected in 2020. At least that is my hope. I think it’s the only hope for our country.
