    After using the oven, my mother would leave the oven door open because she didn’t want to waste energy. I attempted to explain the laws of thermodynamics to her.

    So your saying the residual heat from the oven, allowed to come out into the room instead of up the vent, have no affect whatsoever on contributing to the warmth of the room..

    My gas bill usually runs $40 to $55 or more. My electric bill is over $100. I’d shoot myself in the foot if I used electric heaters. When I use my oven I don’t turn on the exhaust fan and I leave the door open when I turn the oven off. The oven vent is at the back of the cook top facing the burners. If I had cats getting on my stove I’d spray them with water using a spray bottle. With my dogs, all I have to do is pick up the spray bottle to get them off the couch or chair.
